Introduction:

Vikki toured quite a bit with various bands (Kelsay, Ragged Heroes) before recording any solo albums. She tours now either solo, or with The Vikki Clayton Band, who are Vikki, Chris Conway, Fred Baker and Clive Bunker. So, the question to be addressed is Vikki – acoustic folk or folk-rock?. I say this – Vikki cannot be and should not be pigeon-holed. She is herself, and her talent is her own. Her recorded material is not heavy folk-rock in the Fairport, Steeleye or Trees mould, though it might be more in that flavour at the annual Cropredy convention. Sad would be the day if her wonderful acoustic guitar were to be drowned out by the predictable chords of those who feed off (too much) electricity.
