The Three Butchers with delightful guitar and fiddle is the best track, but accompaniment is used sparingly on this album. Some might say too sparingly. The dark and supernatural Young Hunting (Child 68) is here presented in a satisfyingly long version.

Tony Rose plays his richly-sounding concertina on tracks such as Just As The Tide Was Flowing and this is generally a more up-beat album than his first. Double-tracking on some vocals is used, with excellent results. *** CD now available from www.musikfolk.com ***

Seventeen Years on from Poor Fellows comes this exceptionally fine CD from Tony Rose. Fitting nicely into the theme of this web site, the songs are, for the most part, firmly traditional. These are all new recordings. The § symbol indicates where Tony has recorded the song previously. Beautiful accompaniment by guitar or concertina on the accompanied tracks.
